How we can support your family.

UNDERSTANDING ABA

What is Applied Sciences Behavior?

ABA works under the assumption that people engage in behavior due to the consequence of that behavior. Typically, behaviors occur because, in the past, they have been reinforced by escape, attention, access to an object, or a self-stimulatory effect. Traditional ABA may look at those consequences as a way to control behavior, we try to look at those consequences as a way to help the client self advocate and get a need met!

HEALTHCARE SERVICES

In-Home Autism Therapy Services

Georgia Regional Behavioral Services provides Home-Based Behavioral Therapy. We use the methodological approach of Applied Behavioral Analysis with an individualized plan to achieve our goal of producing the best clinical outcomes for our patients of all ages.

Our treatment plan is scientifically based and data-driven and will incorporate the latest technologies in order to ensure our patients receive the best possible individualized treatment.

Home-based services are covered by many insurance policies as long as the individual has an official diagnosis performed by a psychologist or doctor. We are in-network with Georgia Medicaid including Medicaid, Peachstate, and Caresource. Other in-network insurances we are partnered with are Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana Military.

The Process to Get Started

  • Intake Interview

An initial contact is usually made over the phone or by email by a clinical supervisor. During this time you will have a chance to ask about our services and see if we can meet your needs/ requests.

  • Functional Behavioral Assessment

The clinical supervisor will meet you and your child in your home and conduct assessments tailored to obtaining information regarding your child’s potential skill deficits. The clinical supervisor will discuss your desired goals as well as areas of concern. Assessment tools will be selected based on your child's age and developmental level. Results of the assessment will be used for writing a therapy plan.

  • Therapy Plan

The therapy plan is a blueprint for your child's growth. The clinical supervisor will describe your child's strengths and areas of skill development, suggest learning goals, present the plan to you, and address your questions and concerns.

The progress report will be written along with program updates every 6 months.

  • Plan Implementation

Once a therapy plan has been created by the clinical supervisor, an RBT will be assigned to your child’s case to implement the therapy plan based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). The RBT will work with your child in your home on scheduled dates and times (typically 3-5 times a week). Your child's progress will be monitored by the clinical supervisor during weekly or biweekly supervisory visits.

In-Home Therapy Services We Provide

  • Our BCBA assesses each child and creates targeted treatment plans to address their strengths and weaknesses.

  • Parent training is mandated for services to be delivered. Parent and caregiver involvement is an essential component of any quality Applied Behavior Analysis program. Parent training goals and targets are developed with our caregivers to ensure the client is receiving consistent and effective therapy.

  • Used to teach and establish replacement behaviors for inappropriate or harmful behaviors such as aggression, escape/elopement, non-compliance, etc. When a child is regularly engaging in disruptive, challenging behaviors the child is having difficulty communicating or meeting their wants and needs. Even for a verbal child, but particularly for a non-verbal child, behavior is a way of communicating. It is our role to develop a comprehensive ABA program to replace challenging behaviors with more effective and efficient positive/functional behaviors in order to get their needs and wants meet in a more socially acceptable manner.

  • Building social skills is a primary focus of our program and a building block for success in many other areas of development. Every piece of our program interacts to create a comprehensive plan for your child, and social interaction is a key component in linking the entire program. One of the most important steps in the process is learning to make consistent eye contact; helping your child understand where to look to get the input that they need to be successful.

  • Our goal is to help your child become as independent as possible. We also specialize in various skills such as toilet training, feeding programs, dressing skills, and sleeping programs. When we teach our clients self-help skills, we ensure that these skills are learned not just with our therapists, but that they are generalized with parents and family members.
